My reflection on my journey as a multimedia journalist.
Given the lack of a proper source of voting information for the nearly quarter of our school that could vote, I created an interactive map of every single voting location in our congressional district and identified which ones allowed early voting, regular voting, or both.
At the beginning of the year in August, my school was completely virtual, but in October, they welcomed the first students back into the building. With shots from our photographer, we showed the student body (which was still mostly virtual) glimpses into the transformed building, utilizing a floor plan of the school to describe each location.
Our staff writers researched the ways different countries responded to the COVID-19, contacting experts of different nationalities. Using Google Maps, I assembled this info onto an interactive map that users can click on for more info.
The COVID-19 pandemic has drastically changed the community I grew up with. I took a photos of scenes around town that my peers knew and loved, and used Adobe Spark to create this slideshow utilizes photos, videos, quotes, and maps to visually report the effects of COVID-19.
With the recent reading of the Great Gatsby, many students in my school noticed the parallels between our pandemic and the influenza epidemic a century before. Using photos from the Smithsonian and Reuters, I created an interactive graphic with audio and images that analyzes the similarities and differences.
